                                    Ms. Aguilera received an associate degree from the Early Childhood Institute and also studied at the University of Technology in Bogota, Colombia. She joined the WIS staff full time in 2008, after previously working at WIS’s summer camp and operating her own day care for several years.

                                Ms. Akkache has been a French teaching assistant at WIS since 2005. In her native Algeria, she earned an undergraduate degree in science and worked in accounting for several years.

                                    PS Kindergarten Spanish Teacher
                                
                                
                                    Ms. Aleman-Lee received her university degree in Primary Education in Nicaragua and an associate degree in child development from Montgomery College. She is an experienced teacher who substituted at WIS before joining the staff full-time.

                                    Director of Advancement
                                
                                
                                    Marisa Alford ‘01 joined the Advancement team in 2014. This alumna returned to WIS with nearly ten years of development experience, first at the Manhattan Theatre Club, then at New York City Center and most recently at Studio Theatre. She obtained her B.A. in American Studies from Yale University.

                                    Mr. Althaus came to WIS in 2014, after seven years at Jefferson Middle School in Arlington, VA. He is a Spanish speaker and was chosen to be a Fulbright-Hayes Scholar in Ethiopia. His education credentials include a B.A. from University of California, Berkeley in Linguistics, and an M.A. from Georgetown University in Teaching English as a Second Language.

                                    Mr. Anderson earned a B.A. in Spanish/Portuguese and Latin American studies from the University of Minnesota and a Master of library and information science from the College of St. Catherine, in Minnesota. He also studied at the Pontificia Universidade Catolica, in Brazil. Before coming to WIS in 2006, Mr. Anderson served as a Peace Corps volunteer librarian at the Universite Adventiste-Cosendai, in Cameroon.

                                    A WIS (’98) graduate, Ms. Aparicio earned a B.A. in broadcasting, television and mass media from Temple University in 2002. Before transitioning to a teacher's assistant in 2024, Ms. Aparicio worked as a summer camp teacher’s aide and teacher, and as a member of the WISEL administrative team.

                                    Mr. Arias started working at WIS as an Assistant Spanish Teacher during the 2011 summer camp. Since then, he has worked at the front desk for Extended Day Care, for Summer Camp, the lunch program, and as the playground supervisor.
